A CRPF officer has died after allegedly shooting himself with his service revolver at the camp office in Rayagada of Odisha.

Rayagada: In a shocking incident, a CRPF officer has died after allegedly shooting himself with his service revolver at the camp office in Rayagada district of Odisha.

According to reports, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer of the 4th Battalion was the second-in-command and has been identified as Sunil Kumar. The officer was a resident of Bihar, say sources

Reports say that the officer committed suicide by shooting himself with the service revolver issued in his name. Further according to latest reports, the Rayagada SP Vivekananda Sharma and the scientific team have reached the spot and are further investigating into the matter.

It is worth mentioning that earlier this month that is on April 20, 2023 the dead body of a missing CRPF jawan had been found in Jajpur district of Odisha, said reports.

The dead body of the missing CRPF jawan from Jagatsinghpur had been recovered from the Barunawant hill area near Dhanmandal.

The deceased had been identified as Suryakant Kuur of Sompur area under Ersma police station limits. He had reportedly been missing since April 17, 2023.

The police reached the spot and recovered the body and sent it for postmortem. Further details on the reason of death and the cause of death is yet to be ascertained and being investigated, said latest reports.
