Chhattisgarh: A sick tribal woman was carried on a makeshift stretcher by Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel for over seven kms in Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh  on Sunday evening.

The 40-year-old woman, Kosi, was spotted by the the CRPF personnel while they were returning from an anti-Maoist operation in the Katekalyan block of Dantewada area.  They found her lying near Naynar village.

On enquiring, the CRPF personnel found that thr woman was running high fever and that her husband and relatives were away from home. She was found surrounded by her crying children.

Carrying her to the nearest health centre on a makeshift stretcher was the only way out in the hilly terrain. As per the CRPF personnel, calling an ambulance was not a feasible option as the only motorable road in the village has been damaged by the Naxals.

The CRPF men crossed a river carrying Kosi and her two-year old baby on a stretcher made from sticks to Gatam village. From there, she was taken in an ambulance to the community health centre at Katekalyan block.

The woman is now being treated by the doctors in the hospital.
