‘Crorepati’ Odisha school teacher arrested in DA case

Rayagada: A day after the Odisha Vigilance sleuths conducted simultaneous raids on several places belonging to him, Shisir Kumar Semeli, teacher of Kampar U.P. School under Kashipur Block of Rayagada district was arrested today.

According to reports, Semeli was arrested after eight hours of interrogation by the Vigilance officials over his assets to the tune of Rs 4, 16, 99, 477.

During interrogation, the anti-corruption team found out that the teacher had accumulated 307 per cent more than his real property.

He was forwarded to the Vigilance court following his arrest today.

Four teams of Odisha Vigilance led by 4 DSPs, 5 Inspectors and other staff conducted simultaneous raids at 6 places in Rayagada district on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Koraput at Jeypore yesterday.

During the search operation, they seized his property that included cash Rs 2.88 lakh, 2 triple storeyed buildings and 3 double-storeyed buildings at Doraguda, Rayagada, Bank deposits of Rs 21.68 lakh, 2 four-wheelers (Innova and Bolero), gold jewellery proximately 408 gms, silver jewellery around 229 gms detected during house search so far.

This apart, insurance deposits over Rs 2,83,342 and other movable and immovable properties of the school teacher were also seized during the raid.
