Bhubaneswar: The Odisha police on Tuesday informed that the Crime Branch will investigate the murder of BJP’s Khordha Zone-9 Mandal President Manguli Jena.
“Keeping in mind the priority of the case as well as the workload of district police, the matter has been handed over to the Crime Branch who can conduct the inquiry in a dedicated way,” said DGP in-charge B K Sharma today.
The DGP further informed that DSP Pramod Rath has been made the investigating officer in this case. A Crime Branch team has already reached Khordha and will be assisted by a cyber-team. The probe supervision will be done by IG Arun Bothra whereas Inspector General of Police (Central Range) Soumendra Priyadarshi will assist the Crime Branch in the probe.
Noteworthy, BJP Mandal chief Manguli Jena was killed after being shot by two bike-borne miscreants late on Sunday night near district BJP office in Nabinabag area of Khordha.
In the attack, Jena sustained bullet injuries and was declared dead by doctors at Khordha District Headquarters Hospital.
