On the other hand, officials of the state Crime Branch have detained seven persons including two lecturers of Bhainsa College and Skyking Courier owner. They are being questioned at the Circuit House in Balangir.

The seven persons whom the probe agency has detained have been identified as Punjilal Meher and Shiv Shaw, the two lecturers of the college, Skyking Courier owner Dilip Das and the courier boy Sushant Seth, Umesh Matari, Chandramani Meher and Baibhasuta Bindhani.

During the questioning, Baibhasuta of Komna made an important revelation saying along with his father he was arrested in 2011 for running illegal gun factory. Besides, a murder case is also pending against him.

The investigating agency had also interrogated the deceased bridegroom Soumya Sekhar Sahu’s parents yesterday.

The Crime Branch officials had interrogated Meher and Sekhar’s mother, who also works in the same college, face to face after knowing that there was a fight between both of them over getting the post of the Head of the Department.

Soumya and Reema Sahu had married on February 18. Five days later, they received a parcel as marriage gift, which when they opened, exploded. Soumya and his grandmother Jemamani were killed due to the blast while Reema had sustained grievous burn injuries throughout her body. Initially, she was admitted to Balangir hospital. But, later she was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Reema was discharged from the hospital on April 12.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the case, is yet to trace the parcel sender even after two months of the incident. The probe team had visited Raipur in Chhattisgarh and grilled the owner of the Sky King Courier service and got to know that the wedding gift sender was communicating both in Hindi and Odia. Besides, it had grilled the deceased bridegroom Soumya Sekhar’s relatives. However, the police are still clueless of the accused.
