Covid vaccination for children: Registration set to begin from today, See details

Bhubaneswar: The registration for Covid vaccination of children aged 15-18 years will begin from today on New Year 2022. The government issued detailed guidelines for vaccination which is slated to begin from January 3.

Reportedly, the children would be administered with Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin vaccine. All those aged between 15-18 years (whose birth year is 2007 or before) will be able to register on the Co-WIN platform using their ID cards.

Besides Aadhaar and other national identity cards, the children can also use their class 10th ID card for registration, CoWin platform chief R S Sharma.

The beneficiaries can register themselves online through an existing account on Co-WIN or can also register by creating a new account through a unique mobile number. The facility is available for all eligible citizens currently. Children can also register offline by the vaccinator in facilitated registration mode. The slots can be booked online or walk-in. The time interval for the subsequent second dose is fixed at 28 days.

It is noteworthy that currently 35 vaccination centres have been prepared for inoculation of children in the capital city, Bhubaneswar, informed BMC Commissioner Sanjay Singh. More vaccination centres will be facilitated in case of emergency and the inoculation can also take place in schools.

On the other hand, booster dose for frontline workers and those above the age of 60 years with comorbidity has slated to begin from January 10, 2022.
