Covid vaccination for 12-14 age group to begin from tomorrow, know where it will be available

Bhubaneswar: Covid vaccination for the 12-14 year age group will begin from tomorrow. They will be administered Corbevax vaccine. According to the Union Government, those teenagers born before March 10, 2015 will be administered the Covid vaccine.

What is important to know is that earlier it was decided that the COVID vaccine would be given based on the year of birth. However, now it has been decided that the vaccine would be given based on the date of birth of the teenagers.

The teenagers will have to produce documents showing their date of birth to receive the first dose of the vaccine. They can register themselves both online and offline to take the COVID vaccine. However, as there is no option for these age group beneficiaries to register themselves in the Cowin portal, the registration will be done only offline in the first phase.

The eligible students will be administered the COVID jab in their respective schools with the help of the teachers. The CDMOs have been directed to make all necessary arrangements for the vaccination during the school period. The education department and SC & ST department will work in coordination for the Covid vaccination of 12-14 age groups. Later, dedicated COVID vaccination centres would be opened in different locations.

According to reports, the Corbevax vaccine will be administered to the 12-14 age groups through an intramuscular route with two doses scheduled 28 days apart.

Sources said that over 15.21 lakh teenagers of 12-14 age groups will receive the covid vaccine in Odisha while there are over 15.47 lakh covid vaccine doses are available. More than 3000 verifiers and 3000 health care personnel have been selected across the State to administer the vaccines to the children.
