The children will have to produce documents showing their date of birth to receive the first dose of the vaccine. They can register themselves both online and offline to take the COVID vaccine.

However, as there is no option for these age group beneficiaries to register themselves in the Cowin portal, the registration will be done only offline in the first phase. The eligible students will be administered the COVID jab in their respective schools with the help of the teachers.

The CDMOs have been directed to make all necessary arrangements for the vaccination during the school period. The education department and SC & ST department will work in coordination for the Covid vaccination of 12-14 age groups. Later, dedicated COVID vaccination centers would be opened in different locations.

Notably, Around 7.11 crore children are expected to be vaccinated in this age group all over India. According to a report by PTI, Biological E Ltd has supplied 5 crore doses of Corbevax to the Centre and the vaccine has been distributed to states.

Beneficiaries between 14-15 years have already been covered during the vaccination for 15-18 years age group. The precaution dose can now be provided to all persons aged 60 years and above and the prioritisation and sequencing of this dose would be based on completion of nine months, 39 weeks from the date of administration of the second dose.

The guidelines stated that the vaccination of precaution dose should be with the same vaccine with which primary vaccination was done.
