Bhubaneswar: The Covid vaccination drive for Class 10 and Class 12 students will be delayed in Odisha as they are having examinations. This was decided during a high-level virtual meeting held between the Health and School and Mass Education Departments regarding vaccination of 15-18 age groups.

As per the decision taken during the meeting, the class 10 students can take their first dose of COVID vaccine after January 8 while the class 12 students can take the vaccine jab after January 11.

The principals and headmasters of the schools will prepare the list of the eligible students and contact their respective Chief District Medical Officers (CDMOs) for the vaccination of the students.

It has been decided that the children, who are born before December 31, 2007, can take the COVID vaccine. They can take the second dose between 18 to 40 days after the first dose.

Students who have tested positive for COVID can take the vaccine after three months.

It is to be noted here that the vaccination drive for the 15-18 age group would begin from tomorrow. The State government has made elaborate arrangements for the same.
