Covid-19 Second Wave Impacting Youth More: DMET Director

Bhubaneswar: With a massive second wave of Covid-19 sweeping through Odisha, the virus is infecting youngsters more and the new strain has got different characteristics this time, informed Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) Director Dr CBK Mohanty.

The infection will spread further if people are not cautious in the upcoming days. The virus trend has changed in the second wave as it is spreading faster this time. Since elderly people were mostly infected by the virus in the first phase, antibodies have been created in their bodies. Hence, the virus has been proving fatal to the youth in the second wave, informed Dr Mohanty to the media.

The official cautioned that the virus wants to survive, so they change mutation and get transmitted through humans easily and thus the infection is spreading faster, he said.
