COVID-19: Restrictions for cremation at Puri Swargadwar lifted

Puri: Puri district administration has reportedly lifted restrictions clamped to conduct cremation rituals at Swargadwar.

The administration also lifted restrictions imposed for the immersion of ashes at Mahodadhi. Now people from other districts and States can conduct the last rites at Swargadwar and immerse ashes at Mahodadhi.

It is to be noted here that Puri district administration had imposed restrictions on the cremation of bodies at Swargadwar by non-Puri residents on January 8, 2022 in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the district. However, the restrictions came into effect on January 10.

The relatives shall have to submit the necessary documents relating to the deceased at the reception counter of Swargadwar Seva Samiti, Puri.

Maximum 10 persons shall be allowed to accompany the deceased.

The relatives of the deceased shall strictly follow the Covid appropriate behaviour such as use of face mask properly, hand sanitisers and maintenance of social distancing of 2 metres etc.
