Covid-19 : Odisha To Get 1 Lakh More Doses Of Covishield Vaccine Today

Bhubaneswar: As many as 1 lakh more doses of Covishield vaccine is scheduled to reach Bhubaneswar today, informed Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi.

Around 1,08,000 doses were administered to people in vaccination centres in the State on Friday. Due to weekend shutdown in the state, all the covid vaccination centres are closed, informs Panigrahi.

Amid the struggle over short supply of vaccine to the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make Covid-19 vaccines available in the open market in a letter on Saturday.

All citizens aged above 18 will be eligible for vaccination starting from May 1. Currently, only citizens above the age of 45 were allowed to take the vaccine.

The State currently has a stock of 3.7 lakh shots of the Covaxin vaccine.
