Covid-19 Odisha: Jagannath Temple To Remain Closed On Sundays For Sanitisation

Puri: Keeping in view the spike in COVID-19 cases in Odisha, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) decided to close the 12th century shrine for devotees in order to undertake disinfection on every Sunday.

“The Temple will remain open on all days of the Week except Sundays. This will be as per the schedule of niti on different days. The public darshan of the Deities will start latest by 6 AM, unless notified. There will be complete sanitization of the Temple premises on every Sunday.” read a revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) released by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Saturday.

Meanwhile, sources said that the SJTA had made arrangement for vaccination of servitors and their family members as they come in contact with people visiting the temple from across the country and abroad.

The temple administration has also enforced strict adherence of the COVID-19 guidelines as each devotee entering into the shrine are asked to get their hand sanitized and wearing a face mask is a must.
