Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Friday sanctioned financial compensation of Rs 15 lakh to each of the kin of 17 working journalists, who had succumbed to COVID-19.
The list of deceased working journalists whose next of kin will be provided with the compensation includes 4 from Bhubaneswar, 3 from Balangir, 7 from Ganjam, one from Kalahandi and 2 from Jajpur district.
As per reports, some other names who succumbed to Covid 19 are also under consideration. The district level investigation is underway in this respect.
It is to be noted that a sum of Rs 2 crore 55 lakh has been sanctioned to be given to the next of the kin of the 17 working journalists who succumbed to Covid 19.
