COVID-19 crisis: 4-day complete shutdown in Berhampur Municipal area from June 27
Berhampur: The Ganjam District Collector on Thursday announced a complete shutdown in Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) area for four days starting from June 27 amid in view of rising COVID-19 positive cases in the region.
Briefing media persons, District collector Vijay Amruta Kulange said COVID-19 cases have been detected in the district following the arrival of migrant returnees in the district.
The number of COVID-19 positive cases has also increased in BeMC area in recent past, he said.
The district administration has decided to impose a shutdown from June 27 to 30 in BeMC area to facilitate active contact tracing, symptom checking and surveillance. A total of 70 health teams have been formed, he added.
Only essential services relating to health and milk distribution will continue during the period, said Kulange.

A total of 1,088 COVID-19 positive cases have been detected in the district, highest in the state so far.
