Covid-19 booster shot to begin from today, See details

Bhubaneswar: The huge plan to start administering booster shots of the Covid-19 vaccine will begin from today. The booster shot will be administered for healthcare workers, frontline workers including personnel deployed for election duty, and persons aged more than 60 years with co-morbidities.

According to the information shared by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), online slots are available for the aforementioned groups and people have been advised to book slots at CoWIN portal. The vaccination will be held for three hours between 3 pm and 6 pm.

The beneficiaries have been asked to carry the vaccination certificate of second dose to the centres. Only those who have taken their second dose before 9 months will be eligible for the booster dose.

It is to be noted that the COVID-19 booster dose will be the same vaccine as has been given previously. Those who have received Covaxin will receive Covaxin, those who have received primary two doses of Covishield will receive Covishield.

How to register for a booster dose through walk-in?

  • All the senior citizens aged 60 years or above will get the precaution dose using their current Co-WIN Account
  • Beneficiaries can register in advance, on site or through the Co-WIN registration
  • Verification will be done using the Aadhar
  • The eligiblity will be based on the date of administration of the second dose in the Co-WIN system
  • Registration and appointment services will be available in both online and offline formats.
