Jharsuguda: A shocking incident of social  ostracization, of a couple has occured in Odisha’s Jharsuguda. The couple have been barred from using the quarantine centre in Katapali village of Lakhanpur block in Jharsuguda.

According to sources, after a family fight the woman of Kantapali village left for her native place in Sundargarh district. After few days she was escorted back home by her husband to Kantapali village.

However as the couple returned back from the neighbouring district, they were asked to go on quarantine by the villagers. However the villagers did not agree to the couple living in the village quarantine. As a result the couple had to live in a deserted hut in the nearby local forest.

Even though the state government has repeatedly warned against social ostracization due to Covid19, this incident has raised question about the panchayat level administration.
