Jajpur: In a shocking incident a couple committed suicide over their son’s death in Udrang village under Binjharpur block of the district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Pravat Jena and his wife Pravati Jena.
Pravat and his wife who lived in Kurasahi of the village consumed poison late last night and turned critical. Some neighbours rushed the duo to Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital immediately where they succumbed under treatment.
Locals in the village said, the couple lost their only son who was 8-year-old to Thalassemia roughly four days ago and since was under immense mental stress. They may have taken the extreme step due to the depression.
Locals police have seized the bodies and started investigation into the incident.
