Cuttack: Flood of country liquor in a village in Cuttack sounds strange! but this was a reality in Karanga village under Athgarh police limits.
The Cuttack Excise Department and district authorities had got a tip-off and conducted a raid on the said village. They found and destroyed thousands of liters of molasses, as a result of which there was almost a flood of country liquor in the village.
What is even more shocking is the fact that the illegal liquor was being manufactured and sold openly. Earlier this week due to a complaint, the District Administration had destroyed a liquor manufacturing unit in the same village.
But, the illegal alcohol mafia stopped at nothing, they restarted the manufacturing and selling due to which the number of crimes started increasing noticeably. The villagers were subsequently forced to file a complaint in this regard.
