Sambalpur: The authorities of Hirakud Dam today opened 24-hour control room for the release of the water from the reservoir. The decision was taken as the southeast monsoon is most likely to reach the state in the third week of this month.
Authorities said that the 24-hour control room has been opened to monitor the time and the release of the water from the reservoir. The authorities have also informed all riverside districts in advance to take necessary steps and alert the people not to move along the river bed.
“Spillways siren will be sounded when the gates will be opened. The date and time of the release of water from the reservoir will be announced soon,” said an official.
