Sambalpur: A contractual employee of Sambalpur University in Odisha has attempted self-immolation by pouring kerosene during Academy Council Meeting today.
The contractual employee has been identified as Dinabandhu Mishra.
The employees who were present at the university tried to douse the flame but by that time Dinabandhu had already sustained critical injuries. He was rushed to the Burla hospital for immediate medical treatment.
He was working in the Sambalpur University for last several years as a contractual employee and his salary was not fixed due to which he might have attempted to self-immolate, said sources.
