Mumbai: The number of coronavirus positive cases is increasing in India in every passing day. The government has issued several guidelines to contain spread of COVID19. In this scenario, several major banks have come forward to help their customers. As most of them are using ATMs there is possibility for them of getting infected with the deadly virus. The banks are all set to introduce contactless ATM Machines soon.

If reports are to be believed, a prototype has been developed by payments company AGS Transact Technologies, which uses the bank’s mobile app to interface with the machine after scanning a QR code on the screen.

Every ATM card has a magnetic stripe which helps for identification of the account holder and the PIN for authorisation. While withdrawing cash from the contactless ATM, the customers have to use the bank’s smartphone app to scan a QR code on the screen. In the process they have to enter the amount they want to withdraw and PIN of their ATM card in their mobiles, and collect the cash without touching the money kiosk.
