In yet another incident of a tussle between cops and servitors, the servitors of Lingaraj Temple were on a receiving end on Sunday evening after a cop allegedly abused them.
As per information, a constable deployed at the temple premises allegedly started hurling abuses following a heated argument with the Sevayats. The cop also made some indecent gestures to the priests and devotees, as the servitors tried to stop him.
Though a formal complaint is yet to be lodged, the police have already started an inquiry, DCP Satyabrata Bhoi informed. The face-off, which continued for about an hour, is not the first instance. Similar incidents have earlier been reported from Puri Jagannath Temple.
