Sambalpur: A police constable was today arrested for allegedly fleecing Rs 1 lakh from a businessman on Saturday. The accused constable identified as Loknath Behera was engaged in bank patrolling with the Dhanupali police station.
The victim Prakash Agrawal has alleged that the constable threatened him of vigilance raid. “I had been to a bank for cash deposit when he had an argument with me. He later took me to an isolated place in the police van and threatened me to implicate in vigilance case and took away the cash,” he alleged.
The victim later approached SP, Sambalpur leading to the arrest of the constable. Police have also recovered cash of Rs 10000 from the accused. Police said that further investigation is continuing in the case.
