Congress shielding Odisha government: BJPBhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on Sunday took a dig at the Congress accusing it of shielding the BJD government during the just concluded monsoon session of the state Assembly.

Alleging that the Congress and BJD have an unholy nexus since 2009, the saffron party said that the Bomikhal flyover collapse issue could not be debated in the House due to the political machinations of the Congress which supported the BJD by protesting on the oil price hike issue in the House.

“Congress MLAs intentionally raised the issue of oil price hike on the last day of monsoon session in the Assembly to save the state government. Thanks to this tactic, the Bomikhal flyover collapse could not be debated. Both the Congress and BJD have an unholy nexus since 2009, after BJP withdrew its support to BJD,” alleged Pradeep Purohit while addressing a press conference here this afternoon.

On the contrary, both the BJD and Congress denied any possible ‘deal’ between them saying the BJP is leveling the allegation as it has no issue to raise.

“BJP is unnecessarily blaming the government as it has no issue to raise in the House. As far as Bomikhal overbridge collapse is concerne,d BJD has done everything on its part,” said BJD spokesperson Amar Sathpathy.

Congress Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati said the BJP is trying to save Union Petroleum Minister and Odisha BJP’s poster boy Dharmendra Pradhan.

“The rising prices of petrol and diesel are making common people’s life difficult. They were annoyed when we raised the issue in the Assembly”, Bahinipati added.
