Congress MLA candidate Bibhu Prasad Tarai joins BJP ahead of election in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A day after resigning from the party, senior leader and Congress party’s MLA candidate Bibhu Prasad Tarai joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday ahead of the forthcoming election.

Tarai joined the saffron fold at party’s state headquarter office here along with his supporters. BJP’s national vice president and spokesperson Baijayant Panda, senior leader Biswabhushan Harichandan and state BJP’s vice president Samir Mohanty were among others who welcomed Bibhu Prasad to the party.

Tarai had quit the Congress party expressing his displeasure over ticket distribution. He was upset as he did not get the ticket for the Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat which he was expecting. The grand old party had named him for the Tirtol Assembly segment.

Besides, he had alleged that the Congress has given party ticket to one who is involved in a murder case and charge-sheeted by the police.
