Congress Launches ‘Jan Jagran Yatra’ in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha unit of Congress today launched a ‘Jan Jagran Yatra’ in a bid to reach out to people with an aim to revive party’s organisation at booth level ahead of 2019 elections.

One Daitari Nayak, a 70-year-old farmer who single-handedly carved out a three- kilometre long canal from the Gonasika mountains in Keonjhar district to the parched land in the downstream for to ensure flow of water for cultivation, flagged-of the yatra from Congress Bhawan.

Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Niranjan Patnaik, many senior leaders including AICC Odisha in-charge Jitendra Singh, AICC Secretary Gidugu Rudra Raju, Working President Chiranjib Biswal and former Union Minister Srikant Jena attended the flagging-off ceremony of the yatra.

The Congress team, during the yatra in a bus, is slated to meet people and party workers at the grassroots in all the 314 blocks of the state to strengthen the party base.
