Congress calls for ‘Chaka jam’ in Odisha’s twin city over Fuel price hike

Bhubaneswar: The state unit of Congress party has called upon the people of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in Odisha to observe six-hour ‘Chaka jam’ on Monday protesting the steep hike in prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas by the Narendra Modi government in last few weeks.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, OPCC President Niranjan Pattnaik said, “We are requesting the people of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to observe ‘Chaka jam’, halt to all vehicular movement, in the twin city of the state from 6 AM to 12 noon on June 4 protesting the unprecedented rise in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG by the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre.”

“The Congress party will also organise a ‘Torch Rally’ here on Sunday evening in this connection”, Patnaik added.

The Student and Women wings of the party staged demonstration against the price hike of cooking gas here on Friday.
