Complete Schedule Of Rath Yatra 2019

Puri: A month after being ravaged by the extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani, temple city Puri is gearing up for the annual car festival or Rath Yatra, scheduled to start on July 4.

At the Chhattisa Nijog meeting on Sunday, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra approved the schedules and rituals for the Deba Snana Purnima, Rath Yatra, Bahuda Yatra, Sunabesha and Niladri Bijay.

The ‘Deba Snana Purnima’ will take place on June 17 when the holy trinity will have holy bath outside sanctum sactorium. The pahandi rituals of the deities will be held from 4:00 am till 6:30 am whereas the Gaja Besha will be held at 4:00 pm and the Bahuda pahandi rituals will be conducted at 10.30 pm.

According to the schedule, Rath Yatra will start on July 4, to be followed by the Bahuda Yatra on July 12 (nine days after Gundicha Yatra). Similarly, the Sunabesha of the holy trinity viz. Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will be conducted on July 13.

On Rath Yatra day (July 4), the pahandi of deities will be held at 9:00 am. The chhera pahanra rituals by Gajapati King will take place between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm whereas the chariot pulling will begin at 4:00 pm.

The pahandi of deities during Niladri Bijay will be completed by 4:00 pm on July 15.

The SJTA further informed that special rituals will be held for a series of upcoming festivals namely Rajendrabhisek (June 12), Rukmini Ekadashi (June 13), Champak Dwadashi (June 14), Chakabije (June 28), Khalilagi Ekadashi (June 29), Rajaprasadbijay (June 30), Ghanalagi and Banaklagi (July 1), Nabajauban Darshan and Netrautsav (July 2), Ratha Agyanmalabije (July 3), Hera Panchami (July 8), Ratha Dakshinmoda (July 9), Sandhya Darshan (July 11) and Bahuda Jatra on July 12.

The pahandi of the deities will be held between 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm on Bahuda Yatra and the chariots will be pulled at 4:00 pm.

The SJTA has appealed to the servitors at Srimandir for the smooth conduct of rituals of deities during the period right from Debasnana Purnima to Niladri Bijay. Action will be taken against servitors for violation of rituals during Ratha Yatra.
