Commissionerate Police seized firearms, ammunitions in Cuttack, 3 arrested

Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday successfully broke the chain of gun runners. They were planning to supply fire arms to criminals in Cuttack from Bhubaneswar, informed Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh.

The three arrested accused have been identified as Milan alias Sujit Swain of Jagatsinghpur, Jitu alias Dibyaswarup Sahoo and Saubhagya Jena.

Reportedly, a special team of Lalbag Police station led by IIC RN Bhanja managed to arrest three illegal arms suppliers last night. The cops have seized five firearms including three 9 mm pistols and 30 rounds of live bullets from the criminals.

The accused have been identified as Milan alias Sujit Swain of Jagatsinghpur, Jitu alias Dibyaswarup Sahoo of Khordha and Saubhagya Jena of Jagatsinghpur district.

Based on a reliable information, the special police team intercepted a Mahindra car that was en-route to Cuttack from Bhubaneswar.

Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh informed that Milan is a veteran criminal and is involved in 15 cases including murder, dacoity and other crimes registered at various police stations across the State. He was previously booked under the National Security Act (NSA) in Jagatsinghpur in 2019 as well.

He further added that several criminal cases are also pending against Sujit and Saubhagya.
