Commissionerate Police arrests 2 fraudsters for looting on pretext of enrollment in Medical College

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has arrested two fraudsters for looting money on the pretext of enrollment in a renowned Medical College in Bhubaneswar, informed DCP Prateek Singh.

The arrested fraudsters have been identified as Abhimanyu Kumar Singh and Sugot Choudhury.

Reportedly, the two fraudsters looted Rs 32 lakhs from a girl, Pallavi Saha, on the pretext of enrolling her in a renowned medical institution in Bhubaneswar.

Thereafter, Pallavi filed a complaint with Infocity Police station on May 5. Based on the complaint, the cops initiated a probe into the fraud and successfully arrested Sugot from Calcutta and Abhimanyu from Patna railway station. Infocity Police has succeeded to seize more than Rs 10 lakhs from their possession.

As many as two laptops, eight mobile phones, and a fake Aadhaar card have also been seized.

From the preliminary investigation, it has been ascertained the fraudsters have been involved in many other similar scams in other states including Karnataka, Bihar, Calcutta, and Chhattisgarh by claiming themselves as doctors.

Notably, these two fraudsters traveled to different states by changing their names and creating fake IDs.
