Angul: In a shocking road mishap, at least one person was killed after a truck hit another truck from rear on National Highway-149 near Banarpal Community Health Centre (CHC) in Angul district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Jitu Pradhan, driver of one of the truck and a resident of Ganjada village under Purukakote police limits.
The mishap took place at around 2 am in the night while Jitu was en-route to his destination driving his truck bearing registration number-OD 35A 8746 and failed to spot another truck bearing registration number-OD 35A 7011 parked in front of Banarpal CHC.
The victim’s truck got completely mangled from the front after hitting the stationary truck killing him on the spot.
Jitu remained trapped inside the mangled truck for hours before police reached the spot and tried to rescue him.
