Balasore: In a success against drug peddlers in the district, Excise Department sleuths arrested a college student from Rajpur underpass in Jaleswar area and seized around 20 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 2 lakh from his possession.
The arrested student has been identified as Swabhiman Nayak (22) of Matiapada under Sarbodayanagar in Puri district.
A patrolling team of Jaleswar Excise officials lead by Sub Inspector Haraprasad Rana spotted the accused near Rajpur underpass this morning while moving in a suspicious manner. After the officials detained Swabhiman and searched, a pouch carrying around 20 grams of brown sugar was recovered from him. He was later taken into custody.
Excise Officials are interrogating the accused to ascertain from where he found the banned drug and whether he is a part of a drug racket or not.
