College Lecturer in Vigilance net in Balasore

Soro: Tightening the noose around the necks of officials involved in corrupt practises in the district, Balasore Vigilance unit today raided houses of Talanagar College Lecturer Ramachandra Upadhyay on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known source of income.

A five-member team of the anti-corruption wing officials conducted raids at Upadhyay’s residence located at Asimila in Bahanaga, two more buildings located at Talangar College Chhak and another location this morning to examine various important documents. Land records, bank passbooks and insurance policies were checked during the raid, says report.

Unaccounted cash worth Rs 3 lakh along with gold and silver ornaments were found during the search and were seized, said an official.

While the raid was underway till this report was being filed, the exact amount of the disproportionate asset will be revealed only after it concludes.
