College girl’s body found from abandoned well in Ganjam, murder suspected

Berhampur: Tension ran high in Kespur village under Jarada police limits in Ganjam district on Tuesday after recover of a college girl’s body from an abandoned well under mysterious circumstances.

The deceased has been identified as Bhabani Behera of Nuagaon village. She was missing since last Saturday.

The incident came to light after some locals spotted the girl’s body lying inside the unused well in the morning and called up police.

Later, based on the information found from some locals the police arrested a man identified as Goutam Pradhan of the same village suspecting his involvement in the case.

As per the locals, Goutam who is already married was having an illicit relationship with the deceased girl for past few months. Later a dispute had occurred between them which could have prompted the accused to kill the girl.

The interrogation of the accused is currently underway.
