Cold wave sweeps across state, Daringbadi coldest at 3 degree Celsius

Bhubaneswar: A piercing cold wave swept across the state with 13 places recording temperature below 10 degree Celsius on Sunday. The regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed that Daringbadi in Kandhamal district was the coldest place in the state at three degree Celsius.

As per the IMD report, the minimum temperature recorded at Phulbani was 4.5 degree Celsius, Sundergarh with 7 degree Celsius, while Jharsuguda and Bhawanipatna recorded 7.8 degree Celsius and 8 degree Celsius respectively.

Temperature at Hirakud and Keonjhar was recorded to be 8.2 degree Celsius. Similarly, temperature at Angul and Sambalpur was 8.5 degree Celsius.

The temperature dropped to 9.4 degree Celsius in Baripada and 9.6 degree Celsius in Bolangir. Both Koraput and Sonepur recorded 9.5 degree Celsius minimum temperature.

The IMD report further said that the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded temperatures of 12 and 13 degrees respectively.

The condition is likely to continue for few more days, added the city-based regional IMD office.
