Cocaine In Bhubaneswar: Arrested Duo Have International Drug Links

Bhubaneswar: In the recent cocaine seizure in Bhubaneswar, the arrested accused duo Sunny and Ravi have links with international drug mafia.

The alleged drug network was being created ahead of 2023 Hockey World Cup. Both the alleged peddlers were interrogated by NCB officials, informed the Crime Branch ADG.

On the basis of intelligence input, STF conducted a raid against illegal possession of Narcotic Drugs during which Cocaine weighing 202 gram and other incriminating materials were recovered & seized from the possessions of two interstate drug peddlers, who have been identified as Ravi and Sunny Kumar of Rajasthan.

The accused persons could not produce any document or authority for possession such contraband Cocaine, for which they have been arrested and is being forwarded to the court. In this connection STF PS case No. 09/2022 U/s 21(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 has been registered. Investigation is on.

The main accused Ravi used to sell cocaine in different areas of Delhi, procuring from a bigger cocaine trafficker of Delhi. He belongs to Rajasthan and his relatives are in Punjab also. He owns a hotel in his native place in Rajasthan. He was in travel business in Delhi since Commonwealth Games time and during this time he got the idea of selling cocaine in rich areas. He speaks fluent English and has contacts with many foreigners too.

He contacted the second accused Sunny Kumar (who is also from Rajstahn but presently staying in Bhubaneswar) to spread the cocaine business in rich areas of Bhubaneswar.

It is worth to mention that this is first case of seizure of Cocaine in Odisha. Unlike Cannabis (Ganja/ Marijuana/weeds) and Heroin/ brown sugar (prepared from opium) Cocaine is not produced in India. Cocaine is produced from Coca plant which is a native to South America. It is mainly produced in Latin American countries like Colombia, Peru & Bolivia and consumed mainly in USA and Europe.

Special drive against narcotic drugs is continuing. Since 2020, STF has seized more than 50 Kg of Brown Sugar/Heroin, 202 Gram Cocaine and more than 91 quintals of Ganja/Marijuna and arrested more than 137 drug dealers/peddlers.
