Berhampur: A ‘Jatra’ artiste couple sustained critical injury after they were brutally stabbed by a co-actor following a verbal duel in Hinjili area in Ganjam district, today.
The injured couple has been identified as Manini Behera and Sanjay Behera of Parbati Gananatya.
The attack took place early this morning, while the couple was busy preparing for their act in a play which was underway. A fellow actor Chaka indulged in a verbal duel over some petty issue with the duo and it escalated into a heated argument soon. In a fit of rage, Chaka took out a knife and stabbed both the husband and wife several times.
The critically injured artistes were immediately shifted by some staffs of the Parbati Gananatya to Hinjili Community Health Centre (CHC). Sanjay was then shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as his health condition deteriorated.
Hinjili Police have arrested the attacker and interrogating him.
