Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik will leave for New Delhi today.

In the national capital, he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 11 to hold important talks.

According to reports, CM Naveen is likely to be accompanied by the BJD MPs. They will hold discussions with PM Modi regarding the restoration measures taken post-Cyclone Fani and Odisha’s possible participation in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.

It is also being speculated that Patnaik will vouch for the selection of BJD’s Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab as Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker, which is being opposed by NDA ally Shiv Sena on the ground that the BJD and the BJP fought the 2019 elections as rivals.

Putting forward this reason, the Shiv Sena wants the Deputy Speaker post for itself.

Noteworthy, this would be the CM Naveen’s first meeting with the Prime Minister after the declaration of the election results.

In Delhi, Patnaik will also be meeting some other Union Ministers.
