CM Naveen Patnaik seeks Financial Autonomy for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: BJD President and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday sought Financial Autonomy for Odisha from the Narendra Modi government at the Centre while addressing a function here on the occasion of the party’s 21st foundation day.

Speaking at a huge gathering at the party headquarters here, the Chief Minister said, “Odisha does not need Special Category Status or any Central assistance. Instead, the State wants financial autonomy so that we will develop with our own money,”

“Odisha can be fully nurtured with its own money and our fight for the rights of the State will continue,” the Chief Minister added while targeting Modi Government by taking up nine issues that the Centre has failed to address so far.

Among other issues, Patnaik slammed the Centre on depleted condition of National Highways in the state, poor banking networks, failure of Ujjwala Yojana, inequitable railway grants, curtailed of stipend for SC/ST students so on and so forth.

Patnaik also criticized the Modi government on the issues of poor mobile connectivity, paddy MSP, coal royalty revision, 33 % reservation for women and demonetization.

Later, the Chief Minister asked the party activists to reach out the people and sensitize them regarding various developmental initiatives of the State Government.

Senior party leaders including Ministers, MPs, MLAs were present on the occasion.
