CM Naveen Patnaik releases ‘Tribal Atlas of Odisha’

Bhubaneswar: In a first of its kind in the country, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday released an atlas book on tribes, namely ‘Tribal Atlas of Odisha’, at the State Secretariat here in Odisha.

The book, edited by Prof. A.B.Hota, was published by SC and ST Research and Training Institute in collaboration with Academy of Tribal Language and Culture (ATLC).

The book displays the salient features of the tribal population of Odisha with a series of maps, charts and diagrams. It contains 60 plates of maps along with some corresponding graphs and diagrams portraying the distributional aspects of the tribal population, ecological setting of the tribal habitats, their socio-cultural attributes such as linguistic/dialectical affinity, sex composition, literacy and other socio-economic aspects of tribal communities living across the state.

The book will certainly help the students, research scholars and lawmakers, said SC & ST Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi who was also present on the occasion.
