CM Naveen Patnaik not to celebrate birthday in view of COVID-19 situation in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will not be celebrating his birthday this year too, in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

His birthday falls on October 16.

The Chief Minister said that he is always indebted to the people of Odisha for their love, good wishes, and blessings. “It’s been a year and a half since we’ve been facing a hard time due to Covid,” said Patnaik.

It will be a great pleasure for him if people instead of visiting his residence, Naveen Nivas, help families of those who have succumbed to Covid-19 and donate blood, he added.

The Chief Minister had not celebrated his birthday in the year 2019 due to cyclone Fani which had hit Odisha on May 3, 2019.

In 2020, also he did not celebrate his birthday due to the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Naveen was born on October 16, 1946, in Cuttack. He became the Chief Minister in 2000 and has led the BJD to five consecutive victories in 2000, 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019 Assembly elections.
