CM Naveen Patnaik Condemns Sri Lanka Bomb Blasts

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister and BJD Supremo Naveen Patnaik on Sunday condemned the multiple bomb blasts in Colombo in which at least 185 people died and more than 400 sustained injuries.

Conveying grief at the incident on Twitter, CM Naveen wrote, “Strongly condemn the gruesome terror attacks in #Colombo, Sri Lanka. Such dastardly acts on peaceful congregations & citizens have no place in civilised societies. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families and wish strength to the government & people of #SriLanka.”


As many as 185 people were killed and over 400 injured after explosions in three churches and three hotels in and around the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo.

The blast took place at several high-end hotels and a church in Colombo, while two other churches were targeted outside Colombo, the Sri Lankan police told news agency AFP.

The first explosions were reported at St Anthony’s Church in Colombo and St Sebastian’s Church at Katuwapitiya in the town of Negombo.

Soon after, four other blasts were confirmed by the police. Three of those were at hotels, while another was reported from a church in the town of Batticaloa.
