CM Naveen Inaugurates Bomikhal Flyover In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the Bomikhal flyover on Wednesday. Built at a cost of Rs. 45 crore, the construction of the flyover began in 2012 and missed several deadlines before being finally completed in 2018.

The work was delayed after a portion of the under-construction flyover collapsed twice in 2017 and 2018, killing two persons.

On 10th September 2017, one person was killed and several others were injured when a 10-meter-wide slab fell off the flyover. Again on the night of 3rd May 2018, a portion of the flyover’s wall collapsed, killing one and injuring four.

Having a total length of 1.5 km, the flyover will connect Rasulgarh to Saheed Nagar via Bomikhal. It will also ease traffic burden on the busy Puri-Cuttack state highway as well as Saheed Nagar Railway crossing.

For the inauguration ceremony, the flyover along with the approach road was decorated with colourful rangolis. LED Streetlights have also been installed by the PWD on the flyover.
