Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday flagged off the ‘Paree Expresses’ or specially designed chariots, as a part of the Odisha Police’s 15-day-long state-wide awareness drive titled ‘Paree Pain Katha Tie’ against growing child sexual abuse.

At least 15 ‘Paree Expresses’ marked their journey after being launched during a programme held at the AG Square in the city which was also attended by DGP Dr RP Sharma. These chariots would pass through all 30 districts to culminate the journey at the state capital on June 12.

During the journey, each ‘Paree Express’ will cover two districts and make halts at several vulnerable points. Printed materials like leaflets and handouts with messages on child sex abuse will be distributed to people during these halts. Similarly, special street plays against child sex abuse would be staged by local artistes along with screening of movies on the LCDs mounted on ‘Paree Expresses’ during this drive.

The Superintendents of Police (DSP) and Collectors will lead the drive in each district with overall supervision by the DGP and other senior police officials.

UNICEF is the technical partner of the programme and has trained the folk artistes from ZIlla Kala Sanskruti Sangha(ZKSS) and Block Kala Sanskruti Sangha (BKSS) to perform in the cultural programmes planned during the journey of ‘Paree Expresses’.
