Bhubaneswar: After worldwide appreciation for the successful conduct of the 22 Asian Athletic Championships at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar earlier this month, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik appears determined to promote sports and encourage sportspersons in the state in a big way.
Patnaik on Sunday announced cash incentives of Rs 5 lakh each for ace athletes Dutee Chand and Jauna Murmu and encouraged them to do well in the forthcoming World Athletics Championships in London beginning next week.
Dutee, a student of KIIT University and Murmu, a student of KISS, are the only two athletes from the state to represent the country in the world sporting event beginning from August 4.
