CM announces loan at zero percent interest for women SHGs

Puri: Further boosting the Mission Shakti scheme of Odisha Government introduced for women’s financial inclusion and development, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced zero interest loan for Self Help Groups (SHGs) at an event at Talabania Sports Complex here.

While addressing the Mission Shakti Mahasamavesh and addressing a crowd of 60,000 women members of around 29,000 SHGs functioning across Odisha, Naveen announced Rs 15000 seed money for new SHGs, Rs 3,000 to those to purchase smartphones for digital empowerment. Similarly, a sum of Rs 25 lakh for 338 existing block federations was also granted on the occasion.

The Chief Minister also transferred Rs 30,000 crore digitally to the bank accounts of 31,000 SHGs from the venue itself.

Addressing at the event Odisha Mission Shakti director Sujata Kartikeyan hailed the Mission Shakti scheme by informing that, it has equipped over 70 lakh women of 30 lakh SHGs of the state with a financial prowess.

While elaborate security arrangements had been made for the event, police took Jagannath Sena convenor Priyadarshan Patnaik to preventive custody earlier in the day.
