Jeypore: Around 100 students of Government Polytechnic College at Rondapalli of Koraput district had a narrow escape from being hurt as a concrete slab of the institution collapsed on Wednesday.
According to reports, some students and staff of the institution parked their vehicles and bicycles near the college building in the wee hours today and went to their class. However, the concrete slab of the Polytechnic College building collapsed all of a sudden. Fortunately, there was nobody when the slab caved-in.
The concrete slab collapse damaged at least five bikes and some bicycles completely. The incident created a state of panicky on the campus of the Polytechnic College.
The students and college authorities alleged that the slab collapsed due to poor quality of work and demanded action against the contractor. Besides, they demanded compensation for their damaged properties.
