Koraput: Around seven persons including the drivers of a bus and truck were injured, while 30 others had a miraculous escape when a goods truck dashed against a state government run OSRTC vehicle head-on on the NH 26 at Ghataguda of the district, early this morning.
More than 40 passengers were travelling in the bus from Berhampur to Nabarangpur, when the driver of a truck coming from the opposite direction hit the bus as a result of careless driving.
Both the drivers and around 7 passengers sustained minor injuries and were rushed to the Koraput Medical College and Hospital.
On being informed, Sunabeda police rushed to the spot and launched operation to shift the injured to the hospital. Though a major mishap was averted, the intensity of the collision was so high that the front portion of both the vehicles has been completely damaged.
The mangled vehicles were shifted from the spot using JCB machine. Meanwhile, a case was filed by the police over the incident.
