Angul: Driver of a waste-laden truck had a close shave after his vehicle caught fire on Panchamahala in Angul district early this morning.
The mishap took place while the vehicle was on its way to Angul from Sambalpur to dump hazardous waste. Sparks erupted in the vehicle and spread very fast to engulf it. The vehicle got completely reduced to ashes in the mishap.
However, the driver immediately stopped the truck and jumped off it to save his life. He also managed to prevent any burn injury from occurring to him during the mishap.
Fire officials later rushed to the spot and doused the flames to prevent it from spreading further.
Police have reached the spot and are trying to ascertain the cause of the blaze.
